Huzzah! This doesn't mean I'm free, though, or that I even am finished all of my scholarly pursuits for the semester. Here is my to do list:

-apply for teaching assistant jobs abroad/in Quebec (I have three on my list)
-WORK ON THESIS. I

... And you know, I am actually getting a woodburning stove along with the new house. I think I'll have this recipe and try it out when I'm bored.

DO IT. And tell me how it turns out at your end! :D What kind of stove will it be?

It's a small castiron wood-burner in the garage. Pretty much going to be used for if/when the power goes out. It basically has a plate on top to boil water/snow. The most difficult part will be regulating the temperature, I think.

Oh yes, definitely. Although I think we place far too much importance on having the EXACT temperature correct (it MUST be 350F and not 360F), when most of the time it will be "good enough". But still, very tricky indeed.

I just made cookies today. Mine were butter/a little sugar/egg/almond extract/pinch of salt/flour, and decorated with exceedingly complicated designs in a powdered sugar-with-milk icing.

My favorites this year are the triceratops and the T rex. My mother thinks I'm insane, but if she doesn't want to end up with unicorns and dinosaurs mixed in with her angels and gingerbread men, she should have less awesome cookie cutters.

For a jubilantly-happy icon: look for any screenshots of ridiculously happy expressions from favorite characters, maybe?
