I saw that documentary in an art class once - I was bored for the first five minutes, and then that artist blew my fucking mind. Absolutely incredible. :) Thanks for reminding me of it!
No, it's an entry from a local photography contest put on by Pivot Legal Society, where 200 residents of Vancouver's Downtown Eastside are given cameras and the winning photos are made into a calendar. Which is then sold by underemployed people, as their own micro-business venture around Christmas time. It's pretty cool. Also, young people have won first prize some years, a 11 year old I think and a 14 year old. Which I think is super neat.
Pivot is my number one favourite non-profit EVER and I give them $10 a month, even though I am currently spending $170 more than I earn. They do such important work and advocate for people who need it the most. <3
