Art Nouveau = Serious Busness.

The University of Heidelberg is providing high quality PDF scans of the Jugendstil magazine "PAN" (circa 1895-96). It has lots of lovely German art nouveau line drawings. I'm actually seeing some potential tattoos.

Expect to see this kind of loveliness... )

Do you have tattoos now?

Oh wait...

Are you too young for tattoos now?

No tattoos yet-I'm very indecisive on the subject. I've been old enough for about a year now (my 19th birthday is next Sunday actually).

I want something art nouveau for sure. I'm just so nervous about finding an artist who will do the linework properly.

It's crucial to get someone who really has superb skill in terms of quality of line and such, especially if you're interested in art nouveau. I generally have an anti-tattoo attitude, but if a tattoo is well done, like to the level where it's just plain admirable in how well it's drawn and how well it fits the particular place on the body. At that point, then, I suppose I'm pro-tattoo. Now, of course, I'm pretty liberal and people obviously can do whatever they like with their bodies. I'm just sayin'.

P.S. That Pan book is amazing. I will be showing people.
Perhaps we can make stamps from the images within it?

Yes, I definitely want a tattoo that is extremely well-done and well-placed, not just mindless visual noise (nautical stars, birds, cherries, skulls, whatever). I don't want to look like a Tattoo Person.

Good idea, re: stamps! I just got done with school, so I will probably do that someday in the near future when I'm bored. I actually used one for an invitation and it came out quite nicely (if you didn't catch this on your friends list already).

That is a sizeable pdf. 189 pages.
