Foundation, face lotion.

1. What is the difference between a mousse and a foundation?I'm using Revlon Colorstay foundation now, and it's my second foundation -- before Revlon, I used Maybelline's dream matte mousse. I adored Maybelline's mousse until it broke it out, not to mention it would sloth off during work. Maybelline's product gave me a 'no make up' look, which I ( Read more... )

I don't know about a great foundation base, but two moisturizers I swear by are Origins Have A Nice Day Cream SPF15 ($36) and Boscia Oil-Free Daily Hydration SPF15 ($27 @ Sephora). I use the Origins one in the fall/winter and Boscia one in the spring/summer. The Origins one is "greasier" than the Boscia one but it gives my face the moisture it needs in the fall/winter that the Boscia one can't provide (it's too light for those seasons!) The Origins one has a faint smell, kind of like oranges and the Boscia one also has a scent, kind of like baby powder BUT they are both very subtle and go away.

And for the record, I have combination, sensitive, acne-prone skin. Drier in the fall/winter and more oily in the spring/summer.

If you live near a Target, Boots No.7 makes a mousse foundation that is amazing. Maybelline's Dream Matte Mousse broke me out really bad but the Boots one never did and it looked awesome.

How is the staying power?

I'm on the website now and they seem to have a few foundations,

1. Intelligent Balance Mousse
2. Stay Perfect Foundation
3. Mineral Perfection Foundation

Which of those have you tried/are talking about?

The Intelligent Balance is the one I used, the staying power is pretty good unless you have really oily skin or live in a humid area. My skin is really oily so I had to set it with a powder, and it didn't hold up at all when I was in Hawaii in June.

Wow, I totally want to try this now since I love how Dream Matte Mousse hides my pores but I'm deathly afraid to use it on my whole face because it just seems so bad for it D: Can you use the Boots stuff on your whole face?

I got the caked on look from the liquid foundation and the mineral mousse although the mineral mousse was slightly less cakey looking.

whenever my foundation looks a little too cakey, I apply a little bit of moisturizer to even things out a bit. I swear by the Dove deep moisture daily facial lotion.

I do have to say though, I use that one and it seems to turn me a little red on the cheeks and nose. I have weird skin. =\

I'm using neutrogena combination skin. It's not quite heavy enough for my winter dry skin but overall i like it. It takes a few moments to fully soak in, but it moisturizes just enough with out making me look oily/shiny.

It doesn't have SPF in it, but lotions with SPF break me out.
