Could makeup sponges cause acne? I don't mean dirty ones I mean clean ones fresh from the bag. They contain silicone right? Because I know silicone in foundations break me out. I'm breaking out along the bottom half of my face right now and the only makeup change I've made in the past month is using a sponge to apply my powder.

makeup brushes, problem: acne

Possibly. Or you could be using MORE powder as a result of using a sponge. Or, it could be hormonal (most acne on the lower half of one's face is hormonal I've heard) due to a change in weather, or a change in diet.

Satisfy my curiosity...how does one apply powder with a makeup sponge? I have both loose and pressed and I can't figure it out in my head,

I think you can squirt the sponge with a bit of water and then dip the sponge into your powder compact thingy... :)

Oh, that makes sense. I was thinking only in dry terms, lol.

I just rub the sponge dry along my pressed powder. It could be stress I'm just trying to go through all the cosmetic acne options right now as it's easier to fix.

If you think sponges *might* be the issue, try using... a brush. :)

I noticed that I started getting acne on my chin pretty much immediately after I started using sponges for foundation.

It never happened before and it hasn't happened since I quit using them.

Yeah I think it's the sponges for sure because I've not used one in 4 days and it's clearing up.
