How to apply liquid foundation

So I got Cover FX Water Based Foundation and as much as I like it, I know I'm wasting a lot of product in the way I apply it. I've been dotting it around where I need it, spreading it a little with my fingers, and when blending a little with a sponge because my fingers leave some streaks. I use waaaay more than I should when I do this ( Read more... )

I'd recommend getting a cheap foundation or similar art brush in the intermin. When you do get the brush you would use it by putting some onto the back of your hand (or a small dish if you prefer) and picking the foundation up with the brush from there.

Dampen the sponge, squeeze the excess water off. The use it the damp sponge to apply foundation. The wetness will make it absorb less product

The trick to applying foundation is to "buff" it with a large powder type brush once you're done. That way you get rid of any brush marks/lines from the wedge. Once you've buffed apply powder and brush off the excess. That's how us pro's do it anyway.

Doesn't that make the powder brush extra dirty? :X

your also suppose to use their serum/primer

it helps it glide around your face better and also you are suppose to use a foundation brush
but even when i applied it with my fingers its moved over my face and i barely used any so im not sure why its not for you. I tap it on tho.. like pat pat pat?
LOL
and use the brush in downward motions. everyone has tiny lil hairs that cover their face if you brush upwards its not a good thing.

I haven't tried CoverFx, but I have tried many finicky foundations. Until you get the foundation brush, apply with your fingers. Start with a bit of the foundation on the back of your hand to help it warm up. I even like to rub it with my fingers a bit. Then take a finger and apply some product to a spot on your face, then blend out. Add more with a finger tip if you need more in that area. Take a damp sponge (wring out as much water as you can) to blend all over or any areas that need blending. I find that using a sponge to apply foundation still soaks some product up and you will end up wasting. Start with less product and add more as you need it. Good luck.
