There have been a few posts recently about losing weight and I've seen a lot of inaccurate comments made. I just thought I would give some factual recommendations ( Read more... )

I want to do HIIT, but I can't run on a treadmill. I usually do 40 minutes of stationary with ten minutes of serious elliptical running. My knee is too messed up to usually go longer than ten minutes, so I'm stuck to the bike.

there are lots of different things interval wise that can get your heart rate up without being on a treadmill. if you're stuck with the same exercise your body will adapt and you may hit a plateau. what about swimming? or jumping rope?

No pool and jumping rope is too hard on my knee for longer periods. I'm working on spending more time on the elliptical and then moving on to like the stair climber. I also want to take a spinning class, but I need to build up endurance.

Since you seem like you know what you're talking about... :'D

What exercises do you think would be good for people with bad knees to do? I love to do a jog daily, but my knees are bad.

I already do some yoga... any other suggestions? <3! TIA

You seem really well versed in this so perhaps you can help me? I have an over active thyroid and thus am fairly thin naturally and am sometimes self conscious about it. I'd like to find ways to work out so I can be in shape and healthy but not lose weight. In fact gaining a few pounds would be kind of nice.

Do people every talk back to you (or have you seen this at all?), claiming a particular exercise did this or that?

IE:

"You're a LIAR! I have GIANT hips from cycling!"

I've seen this before and it's one of those things that just turns me off of other people because they're seriously fucking ignorant and can't even accept the fact that their bodies are a certain way, so they blame EXERCISE? I'm not talking a marathon cyclist, I'm talking about the type that will go to the gym to ride the stationary bike at no more than 12mph for half an hour for something like three weeks.

ANNNNNNND I love my vitamin supplements. What formulation constitutes a crappy multivitamin? Kirkland reformulated their B-50 Complex so that it contains Vitamin C now and that REALLY irritates me, because my normal-arse multi already has enough but I don't really WANT my vitamin C from anything other than fruits and vege because it's SO easy to get.

;] This is a beautiful post. Thank you for putting it out there.
