Snow Apparel.

Living in North Carolina for nearly 4 years has spoiled me. I'm used to wearing Sperrys or Rainbows daily. I own one real pair of "shoes" which are my running shoes. Everything else either has a heel, open toe, sandals, etc. I need REAL boots for rain and snow. I hate Uggs with a passion, I think they make people look like they have huge cankles ( Read more... )

I bought these black boots from Burlington that are kind of slouchy so they aren't like tight around your calves. They are big on mine. Burlington had a lot of boots, but I was looking for slouchy ones with heels, so you should check them out. Old Navy has some in the clearance section, here at least so maybe check that out too. Nordstorm, not sure if you have one down there, has a lot of good boots too. You could also try TJ Maxx. I saw a lot of boots there one day that had bigger calves.

For a coat, you could get a Colombia one. I have one in pink, grey and black and they look pretty much like the Northfaces they just don't say Northface. Dick's Sporting Goods has sales on Colombias and Northfaces all the time.

Oh and I absolutely love rainbows. I'd wear them everyday if I could, but I live in Michigan and we have approx. 8 ft of snow right now.

And this is random but, what part of North Carolina are you from? I'm moving to Charlotte in a year and then eventually to Chapel Hill.

Thank for the input about Old Navy and such but I want better quality to deal with rain and snow.
I went to High Point University which is right outside of Greensboro. I graduated a semester early and now I'm back home in WV for a little bit.

If you're looking for boots for rain snow, the ones you linked to are cute but not that practical. Get real snow boots, ones rated for water-proofness and warmth if you think you're going to be outside and having to deal with the weather. North Face makes great boots - I've got these in black and they are the best for the snow: http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/4424399/c/68798.html. They don't go up too high but they're high enough to keep snow out and they're super warm plus if I remember correctly, they're waterproof.

I might be moving to Chicago! That's why I'm so intense about finding boots and a coat.

They're not joking when they say windy city, so bring moisturizer. lots and lots of moisturizer.
I know that trench coats and the such are popular, but your best bet is a puffer jacket. It doesn't let the wind cut through and keeps the cold out. I'll check on the brand I have later.

I'm from Boston, ughh. Def get like ACTUAL snow boots if you don't want uggs because otherwise your feet will always be freezing. Also, I usually wear underarmor or spandex under all my clothes, it's a life saver. I usually wear underarmor, a shirt, a sweatshirt and then my northface fleece. If it's super cold I'll put on an actual jacket that I use for skiing and stuff. REI & EMS will probs have a lot of stuff like that. If you can find a Northface store they will usually have stuff even if it's sold out on the website.

Duo are a great company, my bosses ordered from them a few months ago and love their boots. they hod up very well and are nice.

However, that said, those heels are not that practical for everyday and I would get some snow boots from Columbia as well. I've lived in upstate NY for years,a nd now I live in Scotland, and if you are going to have snow and rain in mass amounts, heels are not your friends.
