Living in North Carolina for nearly 4 years has spoiled me. I'm used to wearing Sperrys or Rainbows daily. I own one real pair of "shoes" which are my running shoes. Everything else either has a heel, open toe, sandals, etc. I need REAL boots for rain and snow. I hate Uggs with a passion, I think they make people look like they have huge cankles

I'm in WV!!!!! It did snow a lot last night for around here. Usually it isn't too bad... But I can see where you're coming from if you've spend time in North Carolina.

At least we're not in New York or Chicago or something.

Try Googling extended-calf boots. I'm not trying to do the 'dude, use a search engine!' thing, it just literally took me years to find out there was a name for boots for big legs.
