Ah yes, patriotism's a tricky thing. I'm intrigued about the comment about killing babies and encouraging everyone to have sex with whomever happens to walk bykilling babies and encouraging everyone to have sex with whomever happens to walk by... what is your government up to that does those things???!!!??? Sounds amazing!
But yeah, it's like those nutty tea party people that I saw at the march in washington last year, you just get a whole lot of people who conflate jingoistic dullard ideas and reframe them as patriotism. We have it here too, just a different brand of crazies.
I thought that the Cinco de Mayo was another (lesser) independence day? Like they won some battle or something? I never remember that it's a holiday until we decide to go get some Mexican food and wonder why the parking lot is overflowing. xD

True, but do they have a similar question on July 4? Or other Independence Days for other countries, for that matter? It also might have just been plonked onto this day for no particular reason, in which case I feel silly, but meh.
True. They're a bit nuts, but the actual trouble trouble seems to be caused by their opposition trying to make them look bad. I refuse to vote for anyone who uses those measures (the signs or any other antics), because, no matter their stance on issues, they've just proven to me that I can't trust their judgement. Of course if their supporters are doing it on their own despite the candidate's protests, it's a different story, but it still makes me nervous.

I love how I'm almost as conservative as the Tea Party nutters and yet still manage to, you know, not be insane like most of them. It's hilarious.
