i just wish people wanted more. we have our peace and justice center events too. we have our monthly sign waving. sometimes the peace and justice center gets more radical and does stuff like they've been doing around Tenncare but it's still not enough. the law makers will still just have their way. we need to take it back. we need to stand up and fight back. people just don't care to. after all, this stuff doesn't effect most activists directly. they are cushioned by subirbia and a college education that they could afford.

good luck with your community! you guys seem to have a lot of potential.

the left has a real image problem. i think that's one of the biggest problems. it would be really cool if all the anarchist punk kids with their patches and technicolor hair were taken seriously by the lawyers and politians. it would be cool if the old scraggly hippie guys were taken seriously by the people who are making the laws that fuck over the poor people. it would be great if poor people weren't so scary to rich people.

it makes me really sad. people on the other side know damned well about this problem too. that's why the reporters at the protests talk to the people who are like, "yeah dude i like, wanna be here because anarchy is about breaking the rules!" instead of the people who are organizing things.

at least that's what happens here. that's what happened in colorado. that's what's happened a lot of communities i've been in.

The reason why I don't participate is because I'm not radical enough. I think I'm turning into a Libertarian...

yea i've read anarchy, state, and utopia by nozick and some stuff by larry elders (the now popular defunct libertarian). i don't, however, understand how being a libertarian makes one not socially and politically active. that's a personal choice. i mean there's nothing wrong with it but don't attribute it to a radical mindset. and wether one is radicaly politically or not there is still stuff that needs to be done that is so middle of the road. racial profiling, for example is something that is really a big problem right now in TN. We are working on a few cases. Also, the public defenders and DA office are doing some major studies on racial profiling. There is a lot of activism that needs to be done around: you could help set up white privilege trainings in your school or even write an article about it for TNIMC to call attention to it. hell, environmental activism is libertarian friendly. so is women's rights and helping at women's shelters or sex ed. trainings. i just wish people cared more about things. i wish people ( ... )

I don't like telling other people what to do with their lives. Period.

no anarchism does in some senses of the term. it's interpreted in an individualized basis. here is the start of an essay i wrote a while back:

Anarchism is a broad term that stretches over various political
philosophies and social movements that all have the underlying the
position of advocacy for the elimination of all governmental authority.
This includes authority over a mass of people on all levels including
freedom from any and all social hierarchy and coercive powers. All
anarchist identities do agree on the theory of voluntary cooperation
within a society that is intentionally established and maintained in
which each member has an equal say to the extent to which he or she would
be affected. Anarchism is a system of real democracy with the advocacy
of freedom of individuals with a stress on egalitarian human relations.

that's kinda the impression i was getting, I had fun when i visited, but didn't really see much going on, you were clearly doing shit, and chris keeps himself busy (but you've got to ask him about it to hear what he's been doing). One of my friends said that punk rock was the worst thing to ever happen to the @ist movement and i find myself agreeing with him more and more.

Nashville used to be such an amazing place, I feel very priviledged to have come of age while it was blossoming, i'll still probably always love it, but though I was considering moving back, probably not...
