So when I was out last saturday, walking around some of the tree-line roads along where I grew up.
And I was surprised to see this, all along the road:
At first I honestly though there had been a windstorm that had torn branches off a few trees. But as I walked on, I saw that on both sides of the road, for miles, the trees were damaged in that way. I also noticed that short shrubs and brush in the ditches had been cut, which is routine roadside maintenance. But the damage to large trees was something I've never seen before, and in some cases whole limbs and bark were stripped off up to 20 feet off the ground. Some trees were knocked over or entirely shorn down one side. No regard was given to aesthetics, conservation or the fact that trees are good wind and snow barriers.
What kind of technology could have done this?
I'm ticked off to see this kind of negligence, and I'm planning to write to the municipality and complain.
