Where did the decade go?

OK, so I freaked out when I got my issue of Rolling Stone and it had "Best of the 00's" on the cover. I had not even realized that this coming New Year's was the end of a decade - the "naughts"! Geez! Is it because I was fooled by the still-newness of the first two digits of this century? When I realize we've been through a decade already I think
