RL update

Well, I've done two things that were difficult, but that I think will make a big difference to me. I've decided to leave the college course that I'm currently in. I hate it completely and utterly. The course work doesn't interest me at all, it's painfully simplistic and the never ending tide of assignments (40 in first year, not counting exams) is ( Read more... )

Wow, go you! I'm glad cool things are happening. Coming out is difficult and I'm so happy it went well for you. Plus having the courage to get into something, college-wise, that you really want to do is awesome. XD

I'm a bit terrified, but I'm glad that I was able to do it. I'm not very good at making changes happen and tend to get stuck in a rut, so this is kind of big. Scared, but excited :)

Thank you so much. I always knew that telling the folks would be a bit of a non-event (my dad was a member of a gay and lesbian organization out of solidarity back when it was still illegal to be homosexual in Ireland). I think that Mum isn't sure that I really am and thinks that I might just be saying that I'm bi for the "trendy" factor. She'll come around eventually.

Congrats on coming out! I live with five queer-identifying people, all at different stages coming out-wise. Some of them are having a harder time doing it than others. Cheers on your courage!

It was easily one of the hardest things I've ever done and my parents are very left wing liberal types. I can't imagine what it must me like for people with homophobic parents. Thank you for your support xx

You're lucky that your parents are on the more understanding end of the spectrum. One of my housemates is only out to his mother because his father is pretty homophobic. I feel bad for him when we go home (we're from the same town) and he has to hide himself away a bit.
