We Love The Women That Fandom Hates, Day 1

 - Artemis Crock (Young Justice)

I figured Day 1 I would just talk a little bit about each of these amazing ladies and why I love them so much. I also have a plan to each day have a fourth segment where I do one little thing about a lady I didn

CASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS, omg. Cass was my first real Batgirl, in that by the time I got into comics Babs was already Oracle (hey, fuck you, reboot). And I am so happy that she was. Her canon got fucked over left and right by shoddy writing and completely missing the point of her character, but when they got it right, it was so right. That panel where she's like, "You did one bad thing, but you're not," and the sunlight hits her face and she is basically smiling through the mask, I just. FLAIL. And how she and Steph are the most badass girlfriends to ever hit Gotham (besides Harley and Ivy but who's counting) and they are so complementary to each other--Cass finds it simultaneously confusing and endearing that Steph never gives up, even when she's in ten feet over her head, and it's Steph that inspires her to keep going, Steph that she basically sees as her guardian angel, I just. GIRLS.

I haven't actually watched YJ so I can't say anything about Artemis except that she reminds me of Cissie King-Jones. /bad fan

CASS IS JUST. ugh I cannot even in how much I love her. She was my first Batgirl too! (Technically the '60's TV show Batgirl was my first, buuut the one I thought of when I thought Batgirl was Cass first. It's sort of Stephanie now, but it's just as often Cass.)

I just. YES THAT PANEL THAT IS MY FAVORITE PANEL. EVER. It's just. CASS CASS CASS YOU BELIEVE IN HIM AND THAT HE CAN BE GOOD EVEN THOUGH YOU BARELY KNOW HIM. She believes in everyone! I just. HOW ARE SHE AND STEPH SO PERFECT? I CANNOT.

In that she's a blonde archer teen superheroine, she's similar to Cissie! but their backstories are SUPER different, I think. (Although I hear Cissie could be coming onto the show too at which point I want ARCHER SHENANIGANS SO MUCH.)

okay I'll confess: I spent tonight looking for photo references for making art of girlchesters, and I remembered her name as a few people's girldeans, AND SO HERE I AM FLAILING ABOUT HOW MUCH SHE IS A GIRLDEAN IN THESE GIFS aaahahaha omg especially the punch one, how she makes that jawclenchy lips-pursing face when she is angry at the beginning of it. ANYWAY. Now you're making me want to watch BSG.

Katie Sackhoff would make an EXCELLENT girl!Dean, yeah. She's just. UGH I LOVE KARA THRACE SO MUCH, SO MUCH. I'm kind of torn about recommending BSG. It's - I really really love parts of it, especially S1 and most of S2, but it gets super weird later and sometimes they do shitty things to their ladies and. S1 & 2 ARE really good, though, and Kara and Athena and Roslin are all EXCELLENT role models, I feel. SO YEAH. You should definitely watch the first two seasons! but maybe be cautious about the later ones?
