So last night I did NOTHING beside hang out with the Kid, which was lovely. I was so tired I collapsed for about 45 minutes after eating dinner (I had to work late which was the suck). We watched Hercules (not my favorite Disney flick but better than the awful Fox and the Hound, which she also is obsessed with.) We also had a blast reading books. I ( Read more... )

Well in this case it means when knights are going into groups and trying to 'squire away' the talent. I've always thought this was Bullshit and a case of sour grapes from the folks not picked by knights to be squires or whatever. Not that there aren't knights out there that aggressively build their households without taking into consideration the fighters needs...that happens to. But more often it is just people's feelings getting hurt because they aren't getting picked for kickball. Like attracts like and if a knight see's that a fighter is really trying to get better, that really gets it, they reach out to them because IT IS EXCITING TO US. We put so much time and effort into the SCA and if we see someone with passion we want to help them. I remember what it was to be an unbelt and I want to reach out to those guys ( ... )

Oh, okay. This is not apparantly a problem in Calontir. (Probaby because households here are a very low-key element of the society.) I guess we are more the "household" of Calontir than the kingdom of.

I *love* the image though and will be sharing it tomorrow at Lilies war. V. cute. I thought it would be like luring squires with the promise of spiffy surcoats..which is nice, but I know who will end up having to sew them, so I should get to pick the squires, eh?

Heading off to Lilies soon, maybe I can steal the very best there! LOL

If you are married to a knight you damn sure better be involved in the process. :-)

I will say though that the crafty knight in that picture is orginially from Calontir and will be at Lilies so take from that what you will...

:-)

As a seller and buyer of fine quality gently used squires I can tell you that Russelling is common through out the knowne world even in mighty Calontir, of which I have some knowledge. :-)
