Piles and Piles of Laundry

How do four people go through so many clothes in 1 week?  More to the point, how do two teenagers manage to get so many clothes dirty?  Truth be told, I know those clothes aren't all dirty.  They can't be.  There are how many days in a week?  Is there really any reason there should be at least twice as many shirts and pairs of jeans or shorts for ( Read more... )

I think it's time for the teenagers to do their own laundry.
The amount of laundry in general will decrease dramatically when they have to do it themselves. Ask me how I know. Go ahead. Ask!

I went to college and had to start doing my own laundry. When you have to sort it, wash it, fold it and put it away (and pay for each load!), you discover quickly that towels can be used more than once before they're put in the laundry. Seriously, my mom should have murdered me over the number of towels I used. I wanted a fresh towel for my hair after every shower. However, I was never foolish enough to change clothes 3 times in a day, and think that all 3 outfits had to go in the laundry. Mom would have murdered me, then!

Murder. There's a thought!

I could tell them both that they are responsible for their own laundry from now on, but since we have the nice large front-loading washer and dryer, I really hate the idea of more smaller loads each week when I can just shove so much in at once. Of course, they probably wouldn't do their laundry every week and just wait until they have nothing to wear, so it might work.

Yes, that's true. I've known kids like that, too. Thankfully not mine.

We have the work clothes, the workout clothes, and the clothes I want to wear in public, so that's three changes in a day per child.

We have an amazing amount of laundry, too. Bless Bumberjean's heart--she does her own laundry unless I ask her if she has a few pairs of jeans to add to the load.

Reasons for changing. I get that. Changing for no reason at all? I don't really understand that. I guess I should just be thankful for my huge washer and dryer. We got the biggest ones available at the time, I think.

LOL, I know what you mean! 4 people should NOT have that much laundry! And mine are just toddlers still, it gets worse?!

Thanks for visiting my blog :)
