That last paragraph got me, Ennis is living life through fear, I really hope that Ennis realizes that his love for Jack is worth the fight. loved this chapter, thanks so much. hope you are having a nice day

*hugs*

Ashley.

I think that was the point - once it was no longer about his calling and abandoning God (father Michael had helped him see that) then what was left was the fear.

Did he overcome it? Find out next chapter ;-)

OMG, this chapter was absolutely brilliant. I can't even describe it properly...such sadness and regret in Father Michael; I'm glad he shared his story with Ennis. The letter brought tears to my eyes.

I think this line was my favorite: "God is with you whatever you decide." I believe that, too. :)

It had always been my resolution of perspective chapter, so it was not crappy - but my beta really helped me give it dept today. It was fun working with her.

There were some loose ends about everyone to sort of tie up and I think this did the trick.

This was one of the most agonizing and heart breaking chapters I have ever read in a fic. Jack"s heartbreak, Ennis's agongy and Father Michael's regret were all intense. Very good.

:-( And here I thought it was offering in context Ennis' way out of the church...

Yeah reading it again, it is sad - angst filled - albeit less cruel than the last chapter.

Hey Jen,

Just for the record, Jack's parents won't harm him (not more than they already have) They already know that he is gay. And the retreat and gay deprogramming was their way of dealing with it. Yes, John Twist sensed something was up - but It'd take more than touching foreheads to have him confronting clergy...

I think catholic culture is an important factor. Their gay programming nonsense is not as brutal as the Mormons. Actually Catholics don't believe you can be reprogrammed straight - they simply believe gays should be celibate...

Jack going back with to folks was to return to school and pursue medical school.
