R.I.P. Abbey Lincoln (1930-2010)

I discovered Abbey Lincoln through a compilation. Or rather, I discovered her music that way. I knew a bit about her civil rights activism even before I heard her sing. But on both counts, I would certainly enjoy learning a bit more.

This reminds me of my dear friend peasporridge, who I don't think reads anymore. Not only did we listen to her together, she ( Read more... )

Hi...

And I didn't know this happened. News gets lost in the mail on its way to Moravia, even when it comes through the internet. (?)

Time to watch The Girl Can't Help It. Then, Mo' Better Blues.

I miss you too, very much...

Sorry it's taken me so long to respond; I wasn't sure where--email? try to dig up my Skype account?--but I miss you too and was thrilled to see these comments. I hate the process of getting back in touch, but I think I hate not being in touch more.

Phone, email, or Skype?

I flew into Milwaukee last night. I'll be here until Saturday. A week from today I'm leaving for France (for 3 months). Perhaps we can skype between Sunday-Tuesday? My skype address hasn't changed, though when I've had it open, I have never seen you, or at least the skype-account-of-3-years-ago you. What do you think?

At a Lully performance at BAM in Brooklyn last September, I saw the purveyor of bunnies who mentioned seeing you.
