If the world is Earth specifically, then fire, because of the whole Sun-expanding thing. If the universe, considering that current data shows an increase in expansion, then ice, because of the prospect of a Big Freeze (heat death) - though that's far from certain.

Back in summer camp when I was a kid, one of the counselors had an arrangement of that poem set to music. I don't know if he wrote it himself, or what, but in my mind, that poem has a tune, and I've always loved it.
