I apologise for my Growlithe's behaviour. [ ERM... AVOIDS FUDO FOR NOW. he picks up his Growlithe who merely barks happily, thinking that they are playing. ]

What is hitting with water going to accomplish? Get a leash.

It's meant for conditioning--to show that doing that will cause the spray of water since fire Pokémon don't like water an all.

Considering it's a fire-type pokemon, spraying it with water will probably make it angry, aru. So perhaps a leash would be a better choice just make sure it's a fireproof leash, though...

I tried it once in order to clean his face... and he didn't like it. I'm not sure if it would distill fear or anger, so I guess I'll go with your suggestion.
