One hand giveth and one hand taketh away, or...something. I haven't seen Rachel lately. There's somewhere I can confirm someone having left?

So how about that sleepless couple of nights, huh? Worst nightmares of my life. Crazy stuff. I'm still catching up on sleep. On the other hand, it's almost kind of a comfort. Everyone knows how it feels like ( Read more... )

What the deities will do is grant exchanges.

Grant exchanges. I can't tell if that sounds more or less shifty than granting wishes.

A salesman negotiates the cost before the transaction is completed. It's the same with the deities.

I'm not much of a salesman. But I am good at making people a deal they can't refuse.

They don't seem like people in the official sense, though.

If she left, her name will be in the Hall of the Missing. I hope it's not, though. She was really nice the few times we spoke.

Really nice. She is really nice. And she's a smart, good woman beyond that. If she is gone, I'll miss her. But she doesn't belong here and she shouldn't have been here to begin with.

I don't know of anyone who belongs here, but not everyone finds it all that bad. Especially when they have friends at their side.

You are her friend, right?

Some people belong wherever they put their feet down. She wasn't really one of those some people.

I am her friend. I've been here friend for a long time, so it's upsetting to see her go again. But it's not like we were dating or something.

Don't like the beds here much, myself. I'm a guy who likes to stretch out a little when he sleeps.

Like Serena said, check the Hall of the Missing.

This is a helpful kind of neighborhood. Do you have any other advice for me? Because I'm all ears right now.

I'm surprised myself, quite the change from Manhattan.

Being in the Hall of the Missing just means they're not in the City at the time you see her picture there, but she might still come back. People keep coming back.

I haven't been to Manhattan in years. There's a memory.

I hope she doesn't. I prefer her at home, in a courtroom. Where she belongs.

Sleepless nights, sleepless days. Don't be speciesist, Mr. Wayne.

Next thing you know all the swing shift workers are going to be lining up to complain about my semantics, too.

Do I intuit correctly that you now have no one to rein you in?

I'm planning my coming out party as we speak, Mr. Fitzroy.
