Best Friend (Raj/Howard) Favourite
Probably
My Skin, since that one has the ability to make me cry every single time I lay eyes on the name alone, as well as making other people cry too. It is also smoothly edited and has been viewed a LOT of times.
Least Favourite
Never Turn Out the Light. As much as I liked making this one, I feel that her voice was distorted during her monologue and the song was probably a bit too long for the idea. I wanted to make something creepy, but it just became another vid. I also hadn't learned enough about the program I was using to know I could smoothly lower the volume of the track and make her voice louder to avoid distortion.
Most Successful
The Story of Ianto Jones, definitely. That seems to be very popular and I think it worked really well. My only qualm is that I left background music in and truly wish I hadn't! Unfortunately, I hadn't learned how to remove the background music from my voice clips yet when I did this video, so I couldn't do anything about it. I have done a second version, with a few alterations, that I think is perfect but I'm not sure about uploading it.
Vid that I think should have gotten more attention
Either my
White Scar opening credits or
Halo. Probably Halo, since crossover vids don't get as much attention as they deserve unless they're popular crosses (like Supernatural and Smallville). I honestly think Halo is worthy of a lot more attention than it got.
Most fun to make
Best Friend, definitely. I spent the whole video giggling (especially over "I can be your girl too!") and it gave me a brilliant excuse to rewatch the Big Bang Theory in parts. It wasn't fun when Sony Vegas died randomly over and over again because I tried to open the BBT vegas episode and it wouldn't work, but it was fun when it wasn't hating me.
Hardest to make
Erm... Probably "
I'll Still Love You the Same" since there is a lack of clips (since there haven't been that many episodes) and nothing good to make slashy manips out of XD. Plus the song didn't have any particular beat to work with, so I kept getting lost.
Video with single sexiest moment:
From an editing point of view (which I assume is what is meant by this), there's a moment in
In God's Hands, when Lois and Sam are sat side-by-side at the table (at around 1:50) and that is just the best manip I have ever made. In fact, I think a lot of the manips in this video (which I didn't really put a lot into, come to think about it) are some of the best I've made.
Most unintentionally telling video:
Hmm... I'm not sure, tbh. Maybe
You're the Best Friend I Ever Had merely because I have that kind of close relationship with my mom... and it just came out into what I was vidding? I'm not sure.
Biggest Video Fail
Erm... Probably the
Medley, which was just the weirdest concept I ever have had. And I won't be trying anything like that again any time soon... (Plus ewww on the quality of the Star Trek XI clips.)
Things I've learned
Don't overdo the effects (
Collide). Simple is better (
My Skin). Don't work with the watermark already over the top (oh, god, the lag) and I bloody love fast beat songs (
Ever Fallen in Love?) they're my favourite to work with. If it's fast beat, rocky with a good story it's perfect.
For 2010:
I want to try and do at least one video a month (unlike last year). I want to try and finish my Sam/Lana video, do a Chloe/Lana video and sign up as an artist of a Big Bang (probably an SPN big bang) and do a video for the story being written. I'd also like to do a sequel to
Twenty Years and work out how to get to my five-minute Buffy/Torchwood vid to actually render so I can post it on YouTube. I'd also like to stick to one freakin' fandom for more than five minutes (excluding SPN, because wow, I'm so faithful to you, my pretty! -strokes SPN adoringly-) or at least long enough to make more than one video (coughsarahjanecough coughgleecough coughbigbangtheorycough).
Most Inspiring Videos this year (other people's):
The videos that inspired me most this year would have to be...
What About Everything, first and foremost, which reminded me that you don't need millions of effects to make a video amazing. Just a concept, a good song and a brilliant vidder.
Carnival of Rust (and just about everything that vidder does) because it has this amazing feel to it, and I long to one day make a video that smooth and well done.
The Empty Room. This one is probably the most inspiring of the three because it was so perfect. She took clips from all things completely different and put them together to make a trailer that fit the fanfiction perfectly. It made me want to read it so much, in fact, that I stayed up half the night reading, then went back to the video and was hit by just how in-keeping with the plot that the trailer was. Amazing!
(Yes, I said amazing three times. Just... go with me.)
I think that's it for now.
