Today I logged on to my USCIS (a.k.a. "U.S. Immigration") account to check the status of my green card application. My hope was to get my I-140 (permanent visa) approved some time during November, and then wait up to a year for the Green Card. I've been pretty busy working and going to MBA school, so not much time for LJ.
A month ago I was laid off from my job in North Carolina so I had to find a new job, which isn't that easy because of the economy. Most companies in my business are laying off people or freezing all new hires, so I was lucky to find a new job fairly quickly. I was offered another job here in NC, but because of the visa/green card situation (this was lat week when I had no idea when the GC would be approved), I couldn't take that job.

I haven't lived in the bay area for any extended periods of time, but there are so many nice places to visit nearby, so I think I'll really enjoy it once I get over the housing prices...
