To the question, "Why don't you care about the [joke that is the] All-Star Game?" I submit:

Joey Votto is not on the NL roster...and Omar motherfucking Infante is.

Apparently, MLB directed Manuel to pick a utility player, because of that rule that "one player can return to the game at any time after being removed."

Thats why Infante was picked, according to the ESPN broadcast tonight.

I absolutely hate the Angels, but no Jered Weaver is an absolute travesty. He was in the conversation to start it, I never thought he wouldn't be on here.

Here's my list of All-Star pitchers who are less deserving: Matt Thornton, Joakim Soria, Phil Hughes, CC Sabathia, Fausto Carmona, Neftali Feliz, Trevor Cahill, and perhaps Clay Buchholz since he has about half the amount of strikeouts Weaver does.

That isn't to say any of them are undeserving, but I just don't know how you don't take this guy. It's not like a borderline snub like there always are, it's exceptionally insane. As a Red Sox fan, I'd easily give up one of our guys on this roster for him. I hope if anyone can't go he's the first person they call.

As for the NL, looks good from what I can tell, but I'm not invested and/or knowledgeable enough about borderline players this year to be a proper judge.

Cahill's only there because of the "every team must have a rep" rule. and he's scheduled to pitch on Sunday so won't actually appear in the game.

Thornton, Soria, Carmona and Cahill are there because of the mandatory representation rule, so you can't really do anything about them ( ... )

Thanks for the reasonable assessment of Weaver . I'm an Angel fan, and I'm very disappointed he wasn't chosen.

Gallardo goes down with an oblique strain today, so Pelrey or Strasburg might make it after all.

WHAAAAAT
this is a DISASTER
on the other hand, this means he won't get hurt in the ASG. Also, it means another two weeks of Narveson and Parra in the rotation. >_>

Apparently Clay Buchholz is heading to the 15-day DL, so I'd be surprised not to see the spot go to Weaver after all.

I'm in no way a Padres fan, but Mat Latos should have made the team without a doubt. He IS the ace of the Padres staff and their pitching has been great this year (one of the biggest reasons why they have managed to do what they have done). In comparison, someone like Lincecum should not have gone, regardless of his name recognition.

Ryan Howard also has no business being there and Votto should be in his place.

Just my two cents though.
