The promotion was a big deal to a lot of people, his parents and friends, but to Hilary Becker, becoming Captain wasn’t as joyous as he hoped it would be.
Tom wasn’t here to see this moment and it hurt.
It hurt even more when he had to listen to Langridge’s sickening speech about how proud he was, those gathered completely ignorant to the fact that the man was a hypocritical homophobic git.
The party thrown for Becker felt hollow and meaningless, he had no heart anymore.
Nothing felt right without Tom.
“Captain…can I have a few moments of your time?”
Whatever the man in the suit wanted from him, Becker just didn’t care.
