JB & Scott at Cardiff Mardi Gras - a report

Sep 02, 2007 14:18

Hi again. My friends and I, who all live in and around Cardiff, went to the local Mardi Gras yesterday. We were there just to hang out together, take in the atmosphere and see the bands playing live. I almost didn't go at first, cos I hadn't been feeling very well earlier in the day, but I made the effort and I'm so glad I did!

I was just going to ask if someone had seen them because I'd read they were there on the yahoo!group. (nothing specific, just that they looked happy).
Thanks for the report! :-)
I hope someone can provide even more details. And photos. Of course.

They did look happy, yes, and very relaxed. I could see several people going up to John and asking for his autograph or for a pic with him, and he seemed really happy to oblige everyone, the little darling! :)

As I said, I managed to totally miss him when he was on stage but someone said he mainly just talked about what he's doing next, mentioning his autobiography and his recording contract. Someone said he was swearing a lot too! Heehee. Someone also said Scott was "reluctantly" dragged onto the stage by him, briefly, lol.

Ok, so I'm a total moron, but how were you at Mardi Gras in September? I was pretty sure that was the French for Shrove Tuesda and is celebrated under that name in the US-- how was it happening in September?? I have the feeling I am definitely missing a major point.

I know the term Mardi Gras means "Fat Tuesday" and is supposed to be held in February, but these days it tends to be used more generally for parties/carnivals, especially for gay pride events, like this one, and are held any time throughout the year. The Sydney gay Mardi Gras is an example, of this. I don't think that's ever actually held on Shrove Tuesday or any Tuesday for that matter.

I was kind of thinking the same thing. I was trying to figure out how there was one in September, and not on a Tuesday.

Must come up with reasonable way of explaining to hubby that we need to move to Cardiff immediately.
