She wasn't quite a stranger but someone at work. She used her AAA card to have someone come start my car for me at work. It was a rotten cold day and I had left the lights on and the battery died. I was SOOO greatful!
There have been a couple times in my life where the kindness of strangers really made a difference. The one that stands out most in my mind was a few years back now. My husband and I had been introducing our young horse to the road and cars. Everything was going fine until a dump truck flew by at 40+ mph and spooked the horse. The horse proceeded to buck down the road until my husband was thrown off and caught his foot in the reins for a couple strides. I, was running as fast as I could to catch up and got to my husband shortly after his foot came free. I got him to the edge of the road and I realized he was not okay because he couldn't speak clearly. He obviously had a concussion. His helmet saved his life but he still needed help. The horse came back and ran back to the house and barn. But, I couldn't get to the phone without leaving my husband and I was just starting to realize that when a car pulled up and a husband and wife hopped out. They saw part of what happened and decided to drive up to check on us instead of turning down

the lovely nurses who were by my side during labor. It was their job, yes. However, there was nothing requiring them to be so caring and patient. They participate in birthing every day, and you'd think they'd have gotten attitudes about "whiny" new moms, but not those 2. It is funny, I know nothing about them, only that I love them. And I don't mean the way you love icecream. I owe them 1.
