The hardest phone call

This morning I phoned the vet's office. Based on the vet's schedule, he will come here between noon and one tomorrow to give Rico the only help that is still available

Dear friend -- we had a three-year period when all of my Georgia Contingent -- Himalayans Kaiser Wilhelm and the Bumble, and Chief Cat Maine Coon Oswald the First, had to be taken to the vet, one after the other, for that Final Kindness. Yes, it hurts. Yes, there is a yawning empty space where they should be. But if we love our fur kids -- and I know you two do -- it truly is the last, best way to say "we love you more than we can say, so we'll send away the pain and the misery and be there for you to the very last."
