Happy Hannukah to all those celebrating from sundown tonight to sundown next Saturday! I'm starting later at the Bar tonight so that I can go to my family's Hannukah party this evening. I'm headed over to my cousin Rebecca and her husband Paul's apartment in a little while to help them get ready. She's not, like, incapacitated pregnant, but she' ( Read more... )

Hey, Debra! Happy Hanukkah to you, too. Thought of you and Warren a couple hours ago when I tried to buy my Chinese food with a credit card and the cashier pointed to the handwritten "minimum credit card charge" sign. If you were still seeing him, I'd have asked you to ask him for me what to do about them. :-)

Well, he once told me that Mastercard has a place on their website where you can report merchants who violate that rule. I don't know if the other credit card companies have such places on their websites - or such rules, for that matter. But I don't know what the consequences are if you report someone. Do they get warned? Fined? Strung up by their toes? Reported to the police if they're in a state where it's illegal (like New York)?

I'd be afraid to report them, myself. But at least now you know.

Yeah, I wouldn't want to be mean and get them in trouble, but I DO want to be able to use my card when I don't have, or don't feel like using, cash. There was probably a bit of a language barrier, but the girl looked at me blankly when I told her they're not allowed to have a minimum. I spent the cash.

The itching just means it's healing. Nearly all cuts itch when they heal. It's actually a good sign, so don't worry!

Yeah, it's the damaged nerve endings healing and getting confused. Default is itchy.

A ton of itchiness (technical term) are the fibers that cause scar tissue to form. The body tries to close the wound and what happens is these fibers are laid down across the injury site from one side to the other (same things that form a scar) as those fibers dry out they shrink pulling the skin together and closing the wound. As whis drying takes place the skin gets stretched by the pulling fibers causing the itching feeling you get. If you had an infection you are more then likely going to feel nothing....so this is all a good sign.

what kind of stuff are you "supposed" to be doing?
aggressive chemical intervention might be the problem if you were told to smother it with crap like polysporin or isoprpoyl rubbing alcohol.
I'm a subscriber to the LITHA (leave it the hell alone) method myself so I guess any advice I give might be a bit biased. Not that you even asked for my advice. sorry to interject - just curious

Antibacterial soap, salt water, drying thoroughly... no rubbing alcohol, they made that very clear.

sounds like a good regimen. when my sister got her navel pierced the lady who did it told her to soak it like 3 times a day and cover it in polysporin and rubbing alcohol.. in other words "irritate the living hell out of it". rookie mistake - when it got infected she finally listened to me

Sounds like when one of my friends got her tongue pierced, and the piercer told her to use full strength listerine. *shudder*

Happy Hannukah to you too! I think this is the first time I haven't been wished a Merry Christmas this year. :)
