Loki (Dogma) 1/? brokenweapon February 28 2010, 17:18:47 UTC
User Name/Nick: Alex
User LJ: greencat3
AIM/IM: TeriyakiPickle (AIM), greencat3 (GTalk)
E-mail: greencat3 [at] gmail [dot] com
Other Characters: Josiah Bartlet (nobelprez), Alec Trevelyan (bloody_cossack), Jason Bourne (brokenweapon)

Character Name: Loki
Series: Dogma/View Askewniverse
Age: Old. Roughly as old as creation.
From When?: After Bartleby stabbed him.

Inmate/Warden: Inmate. Even though he did try to stop Bartleby from ending existence in the end, he did kill a lot of people (on God’s orders) as the Angel of Death - and killed a few more before trying to redeem himself because he thought God would like it. And flipping God the bird in person is probably enough to have him sent here anyway, regardless of all other transgressions.
Item: N/A

Abilities/Powers: The ability to “spot a commandment-breaker from a mile away” (which I assume he still retains, although it won’t be used without player permission - it’ll go haywire on the Barge anyway), although his is based more in logic and reasoning than Bartleby’s omniscience of sins. When he was the Angel of Death he could ( ... )

Path to Redemption: Loki is pissed. He already had a path to redemption set up, with the tiny little snag that it would inadvertently destroy all of existence. He balked at that part, and was rewarded by his only friend shanking him. Because of that he’s likely going to start backsliding into being a psychotic asshole, royally pissed at God and any and all demons or angels he happens to run into on the Barge (i.e. roughly a quarter of the population). That said, he will want to redeem himself, but he’s going to be pissed about dying before he went through the arch for quite some time. He’ll need a patient warden.

He’s not going to understand why the wardens have any authority - in his eyes, they’re acting as God’s intermediaries, and he’ll refuse their judgment, at least initially, because the only one who can absolve him of his wrongdoing is God Herself. So his warden will have to explain to him…or lie…that this is how God is helping him redeem himself and get his wings back. (Once Loki is redeemed I may keep him on as a warden.)

History (cont.): Loki’s “hard-on for smiting” managed to make them miss a bus to Jersey, and the angels were seriously on the verge of uncasing their wings and just flying to Jersey, before the demon Azrael stopped them. Azrael told them that their re-entry ploy was pissing a lot of people off both in hell and heaven, and that if they wanted to succeed they needed to cut out the high-profile behavior. So they caught a train, using the highly creative names of Larry and Barry, where they met the very people trying to stop them - namely, Bethany (the Last Scion), Rufus (the 13th Apostle, left out of the Bible because he was black), and Jay and Silent Bob (with whom Loki decided to smoke pot). Bethany got drunk while talking to Bartleby, inadvertently made him angrier with God, and let slip that she was going to New Jersey so she could “stop a couple of angels from entering a church” and unmaking existence. While Bartleby was getting ready to kill her with a beer bottle, Rufus walked into the dining car, recognized the angels, and ( ... )

Sample RP: A few thousand years of being stuck in Wisconsin could make a guy a little crazy. Loki had been busy going through newspapers and magazines, trying to collect information about various people who deserved a good smiting. It was more of a thought exercise than anything - each politician or movie star who tearfully revealed that they had been having an affair became yet another news clipping in his carefully-kept book of sinners. He didn’t bother clipping out stories about murder (there were too many ( ... )

You're gonna have ALL THE MATT DAMON. XD I love it.

Also, I totally approve and Gabriel is gonna stare at him and go, "WHO NAMES AN ANGEL AFTER A PAGAN GOD? I MEAN, REALLY?"

I also approve of Loki/Glinda, but my opinion there does not matter.

Assuming he gets in! *knock on wood* I was hoping Norse Loki would stick around because they could have wacky misadventures.

"Hey, they named the pagan god after ME."

I think the Barge might spontaneously combust if that happened. WHO CARES I LOVE IT.

Hey! Apologies for the delay in our reply! While on the whole this app looks great, we were wondering if you could give us a little more expansion on Loki's personality, We feel you've got a good grasp on his voice and on how to play him, but we'd like a little more insight into his motivations!

Thank you!

Certainly! I hope this is sufficient:

He’s lonely, especially now. Bartleby was his only consistent friend - as angels, they knew any mortal friends would grow old, die, and notice their conspicuously consistent youth. Now that he’s mortal, Loki doesn’t have that problem anymore. During ports, he is going to go hog-wild, especially if they’re anything exciting, such as…not Wisconsin. If he never even hears the word “Wisconsin” again, he’ll be happy. At first he will be angry, but once he settles into Barge life he’ll be at least decently cooperative, and willing to make all sorts of new friends (and enemies) to take his mind off of Bartleby’s betrayal. He’s also totally going to enjoy the fact that since he is no longer an angel, he can both imbibe alcohol and get laid, so…women of the Barge, beware, a wild Loki approaches ( ... )
