This is a huge shock. Please accept my condolences to you and your family.
I've known Susan for over a decade, and I always considered her a true friend. Just yesterday I was telling my girlfriend about some advice Susan gave me ages ago, that I still think about. She told me that in my writing, I shouldn't be afraid to take apart what I already have and transform it into something even better. That had a big impact on me both as a writer and as a person -- it's good advice not only for storytelling, but also for life. Susan was a wise and kind person, and I feel privileged to have known her.
Thank you for taking the time to let us know. Susan touched many people's lives online over the years, and she will be lovingly remembered and sorely missed.
So unsurprising -- Susan always seemed to find the right words. As a writer, and as a friend. She just somehow knew how to put it in the right context, the right descriptive phrasing, find the right analogy/metaphor, to make you say, "Oh, OF COURSE, yes, that makes total sense! Thank you! I never thought of it that way, but it's perfect

Oh Jesus. I am so sorry. I cannot tell you what a support Susan has been to me over the years as I started life as a single parent, from words of encouragement to the occasionally 50 dollar bill in a "thinking of you" card. She was a wonderful person, and I am so terribly sorry to hear of her passing.
Annie- Oh, I am so sorry to hear this; she was a delightful friend for many years. Her love for your family and your lives together shined through in her stories and her photographs. I am so sorry for your loss.
Thank you for coming here and telling us. I will miss her calm demeanor, her kindness, and her friendship.
Annie, I am so very sorry for your loss. This is a huge shock. Just this morning I was thinking about how I hadn't seen a post from her for a while, and thinking about the story she was working on. Her characters always had the wisest conversations, and her e-mails to me were full of the same wit and wisdom. She was generous with her time and expertise, whether it was writing or photography, or how to live gently in this world with the love of family front and centre.
Her virtual 'hikes' around her neighbourhood, mountains and even her garden were lovely interludes. She had an eye for what would be peaceful, refreshing and funny.
I never had the chance to meet her in person, but she will be sorely missed.
