It says something about SPN that we fans tend to view beautiful scenes like the one with the 2 sets of brothers in the Impala with trepidation and then are validated for having been wary. In SPN if it looks too good to be true, it is and most often is even more tragic. I'm excited but fearful of the revelations for this Friday's episode. Ben Edlund has written some of my favorite episodes, both the light funny ones but maybe even more so the deep, dark angst filled ones. I believe he is directing this coming episode where we will hopefully get insight into what is going on with Castiel. I'm thinking none of the revelations will be comforting ones.

Thanks for coming and commenting, and I'm sorry it took so long for me to respond. ANd you're bang-on with your observation about how cautiously we view the happy moments, always in the expectation of losing them.

The finale has me terrified!

I agree it will be fascinating to rewatch this season and find the hints that were thrown at us about all the various twists and turns. This season has felt like a long mystery novel to me, the kind where the clues are there for the discerning reader, but the author still withholds just enough to make the end feel like an inevitable surprise.

Unfortunately I don't expect it to be a pleasant surprise at all.

I'm with you on fearing the surprises we doubtless face in tonight's finale. I think the writers did a great job this season building the mystery; it must have been hard for them to deal with all the impatience shown by fans who wanted the resolution to come fast rather than being a season-long arc. I really do think our patience is about to be rewarded, even though the reward will hurt horribly!

How twisted are we, to look forward to that?!?

At first Dean's lack of infection from Ed's blood bugged me too but now I think it might have been intentional. He also showed no sign of infection when Eve bit him. The other Starships she created had visible effects, like the 'veiny' thing spreading from where she touched them, and then became full-blown monsters in under half a minute. There was no veiny thing going on with Dean and it was a minute and 20 seconds before Cas healed him up. And at that point, he was still bleeding to death, not monstering out. I don't think he was infected either time ( ... )

Thanks for coming and sharing, and I'm sorry it's taken so long for me to respond!

I like your suggestion that the shot of phoenix-ash whiskey could have immunized Dean against the infection. Let's go with that! (And let's not consider the phoenix being reborn within someone who drank the ash - quick, Dean, drink lots of water and hit the bathroom ...! *grin*)

Bardicvoice I'm so glad I found your website. I really used to look forward to your analysis at the end of an episode on the Supernatural website but then you were just gone. I missed you. Lots of catching up to do now that I know how to find you. Can't quite navigate through all of this yet, I'll figure it out. Your comments and analysis are real gems. Who knows, maybe there was not enough people reading you, instead they were fighting amongst themselves. Nt me, I just wanted to read what you were posting. I'm staying right here! Thanks and take good care. Delia

Thanks for coming, Delia, and glad you found me! The sn.tv website had a few problems for a while, so there were times the review section just disappeared, but my stuff is still there. I've also been a bit slow lately getting the reviews out, what with the the schedule of my real-life job, but I plan on keeping on with the writing.

I hope you find your way around here! I have master posts linking to all my reviews, all my metas, and all my fanfic - those might help.
