So sorry, that is a massive loss. It's always been a part of your life, and it's a living thing on it's own. You have my condolences.

I gasped when I read that the tree has to be removed. So sad.

Is there any way the arborist can try to find craftsmen to take the wood? Big pieces of old maple must be next to impossible to come by, & I bet there are carpenters out there that could make very beautiful things with that wood....

What a sad thing! A big old tree is such a wonderful presence. I'm very sorry for this loss.
