First off- I am doing much better, thank you. I still have my moments, I won't lie. But they are further and further apart. Oddly enough I have had a couple of work related dreams, but that's normal I suppose

I am *trying* to be constructive, a bit. LOL It's not easy though.
I haven't been to D.C. in about 5 or so years, so what I did know I have already forgotten except for the basics. So anything would be helpful at this point. :)
I read about the show- it sounded like loads of fun. But oddly enough after all this mess went down, I didn't even process the fact he would be there so soon. It probably would have done me a world of good too. But it was all right- I did what I was meant to do. :)
That workshop sounds like it was great! Was it through a school or organization, or was it an independent setup?
I recently read a book by Janet Evanovich about the art of writing. She told how she writes and what the experience is like for her, but she also told about her workings with agents, editors and publishers - an editor she knows also gave tips throughout the book. One thing Janet said stuck in my head. It was related to ideas. She said that there probably aren't any unique ideas left in writing. The uniqueness and creativity lie in the writers voices - it is how any idea is written, the style of the writer and the way they word things that will make a story original. And I do think you have your own style. Good luck to you! Work that idea!
Wish I could help with the rest. My first hand knowledge of some of those places is way out of date - I rely a lot on travel guides, lol.
The workshop was conducted by a local college, so they can afford to have people come in to the sessions. And since many of them live up north, they were happy to get out of the cold for a few days. LOL
I would like to think there are a few things that haven't been touched yet, but walking around Borders tonight, I am probably very much wrong. LOL
Thanks all the same- I ended up getting a few travel books form the library and found what looks like a great reference site for all of Ireland online whilst doing major league researching this afternoon. It's up to date and might help with most of my questions, barring housing for the most part.
The BBC is a good place to start for news, so here you go: http://www.bbc.co.uk/london/ If you want to know more specifically about life in a specific part of London, just let me know :]
The only news I generally hear a lot about from Paris is the French elections. But I have a feeling that's a tad dull, hehe.

I know a little bit about Washington D.C.--probably not enough to help you much (only been there twice) but I might give you a basic idea.
I wish you could have made Darren's show--you would have had so much fun.
