simple solution: make all previous entried private. then leave a single post public that says "baos lj temporarily shutdown blah blah american idol blah". after american idol is complete, go back and make everything public again.

simpler solution (I reply to you if only to steal your format): delete.

because I'm pretty sure deleting isn't permanent. they say you can undelete up to thirty days after your original deletion (Journal has been deleted. If you are [blahblahblah], you have a period of 30 days to decide to undelete your journal.), and no guarentees on the next point, but there are lots of people who undelete up to half a year later and everything's as it was and there's no problem. or there's always the whole, delete-undelete-delete-undelete to make sure you don't go over thirty days just in case approach. which, you know, just sayin.

or the private-ing thing works, and that way you can still look back on whatever should you ever feel the need to.

ex post facto

A law that makes illegal an act that was legal when committed, increases the penalties for an infraction after it has been committed, or changes the rules of evidence to make conviction easier. The Constitution prohibits the making of ex post facto law.

The rule applied to you only on sept. 9 and onward, therefore they cannot punish you for anything written prior to that date. just dont write anything new, (technically this entry you posted counts, so you might want to delete it if you want to be secure)

If they got a problem with that, call Larry H. Parker - he's got the hook up.

If you've ever done a google search, you'll know how easy it is to get information on anyone. With just a name or phone number, one can easily get an aerial image of your house and the surrounding area.

Since you will be in the eye of the hungry media, protecting your identity might be a good idea (also for the sake of your friends/family, unless they want the attention).

I suggest you back up your entries to your computer if possible and delete the account. This all depends on how sensitive the information on your journal is and if you like stalkers.. :D

btw.. deleting your lj account won't guarantee that it will be gone from the internet.. if its in the google cache, you'll need to do some more mopping.

If you decide to rid all traces of yourself from the net, I can give you further advice.

good luck,

that paranoid guy who took you to watch The Weather Underground :)
