Surprised by joy

O Christian, the vows of God are upon you. You are God's priest: act as such. You are God's king: reign over your lusts. You are God's chosen: do not associate with Belial. Heaven is your portion: live like a heavenly spirit, so shall you prove that you have true faith in Jesus, for there cannot be faith in the heart unless there be holiness in the ( Read more... )

As I start thinking about planning a wedding, Vegas does sound appealing. However, I've always of my wedding as a way of bringing all my friends and family together to witness me joining my life with another. And I can't see that happening in Vegas.

On the other hand, I can't wait to buy my three-ring binder.

If your friends don't like Vegas, you need new friends.

"Lord, I desire to live as one
Who bears a blood-bought name,
As one who fears but grieving Thee,
And knows no other shame."

Love. Makes me wonder if Phil feels up to composing something for it.

Huge grin. That is all.

Now I have to attempt to update before my trip falls out of my head.

Can I get married by an Elvis impersonator there?

I didn't know that was a requirement. creactivity June 28 2005, 20:40:46 UTC
Aren't there Elvis impersonators everywhere? Okay, I guess they're more densely congregated in Vegas.

"...for there cannot be faith in the heart unless there be holiness in the life."

Huh? Since when does holiness in your life come before faith?

I don't think that means "coming before." Consider a rose: it cannot be a rose unless it has thorns. Do thorns come before its being a rose? No. Likewise, a life of faith will exhibit holiness, by the power of the Spirit transforming the person.

If there is no holiness in the life, then how can there be faith in the heart? Did God just fail to come through on His promise for those who trust Him, to change their lives? I don't believe that's a possibility. It does, of course, come in His time and according to His design, but God won't somehow fail to exhibit His holiness in the lives of the faithful. If He gives one gift (faith), He will be sure to give the other (holiness).
