4. She's said she wants to compete... and she really likes learning new things, once she gets good at them. If she sticks with it, she'll ultimately get better at dealing with frustrations and it will therefore be good for her. She is doing great so far; I keep telling her that and I wouldn't give her false praise. (Like I won't lie and pretend she has a realistic shot of getting to the Olympics... she started too late and she admits she would not want to do the things that are necessary to get there like get up at 5am or take ballet class. Plus the odds are hugely stacked against anyone, no matter how hard they work. But she can definitely go far in local competitions and in testing for different levels as long as she works at it ( ... )

I'd also suggested that if the group lessons are too frustrating, she should stick to private lessons where she will not be comparing herself to other people and she can move at her own pace. I had also addressed the bit about dealing with that frustration as well, as well as the fact there are other lessons outside of skating going on. For one, she also gets easily distracted from the task at hand, and she mentioned that she gets wrapped up in what the other skaters are learning, instead of focusing on her own skills (which contributes to the frustration ( ... )

The past couple of years, the seder didn't finish until after 8, and the MIL is ready for bed by then... and is not ready for two hours of clean-up.

Easy solution: skip right to the festive meal! ;) (pg 18)
