I haven't listened to this song in forever. Years. In college, I'd play the tune on  repeat. It took on various meanings throughout my undergrad. and grad. years: early morning percolation, break-up track, rabble rousin' empowerment, etc. Now, nostalgia. Oh, hello old friend.

OMG SO HOTTT. Beautiful man.

Anyway I thought it was silly and the plot was kind of dumb, but that was the point of going to see it: to see something silly and mindless with decent acting and RDJ in period clothing, quipping away left and right, and shooting that fine, fine gun. You should see it, but maybe at matinee price.

Yep. The actors are all so great, and while they're bickering in their subplots its wonderful, and every 20 minutes or so you wonder if there's ever going to be bigger plot that works out to something, and the answer is no. But minute by minute, it's great.

David Denby in the New Yorker nailed it, I think, when he said that Jude Law is beautiful onscreen but he usually seems lazy, like the other actors or the movie aren't really managing to wake him up. He's totally awake here, and he & RDJ play off one another excellently.

i love the idea of a critic referring to an actor as "awake" or present in a film or performance

Sherlock Holmes was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! As a matter of fact, I'm going to pay full price to see it again at the theater next week. I never do that, so you know it's gotta be good. The chemistry between Sherlock and Watson is hilarious. They're like an old married couple. The one-liners are to die for. The action sequences are awesome (hey, it's Guy Ritchie directing it...) All and all, it was one of the best movies I've seen, not only in a long time, but maybe ever.

Sherlock Holmes is AWESOME. I don't quite believe either Holmes and Watson are straight in it, but neither do the actors, so I guess we're all on the same page.

i LOVE that RDJ & jude law have been open about this/flirting/encouraging the bromance! in the books, i loved how holmes was sort of asexual, but i think this is nice interpretation, too. RDJ & JL def. have chemistry! i can't wait to see the film! :).
