Those are wonderful! I especially love the drowning men and the "medallion" surrounded by broken-headed skulls (and their hands!) Thank you for a lovely eerie Easter morning.
Yeah, I'm somewhat partial to the blood sacrifice myself. (though don't quote me on that out of context. Hee).
They are a mixture of things actually - some are woodcuts, other are engravings and a tiny number are ink drawings. For instance Werenskiold preferred drawings, while Munthe used mostly woodcuts while working on these illustrations.
This is great. :) Do you fill in most of your commentary just from what you remember as you go, or are you referencing books for accuracy or specific wording?

I've double checked the dates and such, but mostly it is stuff I know. I've written about Munthe in an academic capacity and so reading about the rest came as a matter of course.
