Sorry about the almost-late post. Had problems with pictures. They are still of extremely bad quality.

This one is from my grandmother’s cookbook. It is very difficult, but worth the effort. It might not look much, but the taste is wonderful.
Looking to see if the recipe exists elsewhere, I noticed that all other variations have only crust and snow, ( Read more... )

Is the filling always chocolate-based, or do you think a fruit-based filling might work?

I always make chocolate-based filling because I'm a chocolate lover. But the crust is very dry and tastes like a very plain cookie. I think simple fruit filling (or jam) could go well with it, as long as it's not too sweet. The point of the cake is dry crust and snow slowly melting and soaking it, making it juicy and sweet. The filling is an addition to the original recipe, so I think you can experimient there.
