Portal Companion Cube cake

Hi bakers!

I just wanted to share a cake I made for my boyfriend's birthday (and mine, they're 5 days apart), which turned out better than I dared hope for! The videogame nerds out there will recognize the subject-- I really wanted to make a Portal cake because it's the first thing we ever played together. :)

So awesome! Great idea! I want to try something like this but I've had a fear of fondant for ages now...it never wants to do what I tell it and I also hate eating the stuff so I just avoid it altogether. I might try an iced companion cube cake instead...hmmm.
