Another cake for my boyfriend, this one for his 28th birthday. Again I wanted to stay away from fondant, and again I decided to tackle my arch nemesis: gelatine.

that looks so awesome! If I saw that at a party, I would be so impressed & be introducing the person who made it to everyone!

If I saw that at a party, I wouldn't want to eat it! It looks too pretty!

Oh that's interesting. Is it an allergy or a preference thing? I've never investigated, but out of curiosity is there anything you can use as a substitute?

I'm a vegetarian :) There are jelly substitutes, although I haven't really tried using them. Maybe I ought to experiment!

Maybe I should, too! There's so many people with different food preferences and allergies you always have to have an alternate ready.

Awesome. Let me know how it goes. :)

It's a pretty forgiving recipe. I thought I'd have issues with it setting because of a gelatine clumping drama I had (I amended the methods in the recipe I posted from their technique to my usual one which helps to avoid that issue) but it was fine. Though next time I'll use gelatine leaves. I just find them easier to manage.
