[If you're checking the network tonight (and it is, indeed, fairly late at night) you may see that Johto's resident phantom thief has sent out a text to the network. If you're checking to see who the message is from, the gear is registered under the name 'Kaitou Kid,' and unless you're standing right over Kaito's shoulder as he types this, can't be ( Read more... )

Oh wow.
The self-advertising perverted thief is asking what we think is valuable.
What a ridiculously suspicious question. ( ̄〜 ̄;)

And the skeptical butler is responding skeptically.

What a predictable answer.

What is there to be skeptical about? ಠ_ಠ
A thief is asking what we think is valuable.
That's like a killer asking his next victim when they'll next be alone and defenseless.

Would it help if I mentioned I don't plan on stealing anything anytime soon?

Besides, I didn't ask for specifics. Just definitions.

[HAKUBA USED DON'T FOLLOW WHOA WHAT IS THIS] chasingkid February 17 2011, 05:13:23 UTC
[Yeah, he didn't follow. The look on Kay's face was serious, but he doesn't know her enough to... really follow. He'll just meet up with you folks later oooon, keeping an eye on the network while Kay deals with her father and such. :|b ]

I doubt I can give you an answer which you will agree to, Kid, regarding value.

But there are some things nobody should steal - would you compromise to that?

I never said I needed answers I would agree with. What constitutes valuable is a subjective question.

Of course.

It certainly has been a while - how have you been? [PLAYING ALONG FOR NOW.]

As well as any thief is when they're trapped somewhere they can't escape from.

The most valuable things are what's hardest to obtain. The more difficult it is to get, the more it's worth.

Does this definition apply to things other than material items?

[text] solas_ion February 17 2011, 05:20:23 UTC
I don't see any reason it shouldn't. If someone wants anything--whether it's an object or something intangible--then it's valuable to them even if it's worthless to everyone else.

An interesting answer. Do you have anything in particular that fits that definition?

While there are rare exceptions to this rule, I do not think that any material possession can carry true value from its own self. It is the effort, sentiment and meaning behind an object that gives it its true worth.

After all, a diamond's value increases only after the steps are taken to purify it. It is, I think, the work surrounding it, that gives it value.

It is a pleasure to see you again, Kid-san. ♥

A good answer, Hououji-san.

And it's a pleasure to see you again, as well. [... he feels as though that heart is anything but sincere]

An honest one. And while an item can have sentimental value to it, it is nothing in comparison to whatever gave it the sentiment. An item's value varies depending on situations.

I had thought you had left this world. [She didn't see his Christmas post.]

[And here is one of Johto's many precocious children.]

My father always valued trust. He trusted his clients to the very end.

As for me... it depends. If I feel that something is important to me, then that's what's important to me. I don't have a set standard for things like that.

[text] bakaitoukid February 17 2011, 05:20:46 UTC
Then I should rephrase my question. What is important to you?

[text] miniworth February 17 2011, 05:24:46 UTC
For now. I want to value what I have here.

Friends, people I want to protect... and I hope a friend of mine would be able to spend time with her father once again.

[... haha Miles talked about the one thing that got him thinking about this: the appearance of Kay's father]

Making the most of your time here is a good thing to do. Particularly since we don't know how much of it we'll be able to take home with us.
