A bit overly defensive? Am I not entitled to the same rights of interpretation?
Anyways I think the song isn't necessarily encouraging people to 'slay' homophobes or shout onscenities at them. I think she's just trying to send a general message of discontent at the degree of hatred aimed at the homosexual community today. And the song is not just about homosexuality it's about all kinds of discrimination and hate and even has religious undertones (the mention of war ia not solely related to sexuality, perhaps partly but more largely it is related to religious conflict in general, not just homophobes/homosexuality) and theres a lot more but I don't feel like writing an essay here.
Yes you ARE entitled to your own interpretation as a HUMAN right (I don't know what you being American has to do with it) but I just thought I'd add to the debate with my thoughts on the topic.
Not defensive. Statement of fact. And I never said you weren't entitled to interpretation: I was stating that I had that right as well.
And while I agree that the interpretation was taken too literally, I stand by.... fuck, I don't even know what I'm saying anymore -.-
And it should've been mildly obvious that I was at least slightly intoxicated and sleep deprived when I posted this, based on what is said at the very end. But I can be a very literal person.
