Yeah, that was my general impression of it. I wasn't overly impressed by it, but I liked Oswin and Moffat didn't do anything really annoying. Aside from the whole divorce thing that was just silly. But even that was easy enough to ignore. It wasn't a bad episode, over all.

I'm extremely pleased that Oswin is not (as spoilers for the actress seemed to imply) another "normal girl" companion from contemporary England. Many fine companions have been of that variety, but aside from Jo, I tend to like the less ordinary companions more. And her situation is really interesting (she's kind of Seven of Nine, and I always liked Seven).

The divorce thing was random, but I had to smile at the "I'm working"/"I thought you were just pouting at the camera" exchange between Amy and Rory because that was petty of Rory, and yet I felt the same way about Amy's job the first time we learned of it, and I still think it's a terrible waste of talent, and I think it may well be Moffat's reaction to the way fans reacted to Amy's chosen job.

I am looking forward to Oswin. I like both kinds of companions a lot, but we haven't had a non-ordinary one since Jack, and he didn't travel enough to really count.

Hm, yes. I'd hoped she'd had more to do with the marketing myself, what with the motto of it and all. I was a bit sad to be proven wrong. I'll just stick with my head canon of her working for UNIT. It's more fun that way, and she's still kicking butt.
