I agree with you! We had to move our Thanksgiving dinner time up so that my daughter could go to her seasonal mall job at 6:30 on Thanksgving day.
I refuse to go anywhere on Black Friday - except maybe the grocery store - it's pretty safe, everyone hit it the morning before so I can puruse the isles in relative peace.
We boycotted all the stores that were open on Thanksgiving as well this year - for exactly the reasons you stated above. Amusingly, everyone in the family liked their gifts better than most of the last several years :>. We told the retailers we shopped at that we were there *because* they didn't open on Thanksgiving - hoping to make a point :>.
