I'm glad you're feeling better! Would a plastic water bottle and a bag to sling on one of the crutches solve the problem of transporting liquids from point A to B?

yeah, i've even seen crutch-mounted water-bottle holsters... but you could rig your own easily.
hope these things help out in the interim :}

I'm still mostly tootling around my house, but they're reasonably useful for that. I can also maneuver with only one, if I have to. Or none, but that hurts more.

It's great that you are feeling better, but I have to say that I really, really hate being on crutches. Having both hands required for locomotion meant I couldn't really do anything for myself, which was immensely frustrating.

How did the ER people react to you, gender-wise? I expect around Boston they are mostly just professional about everything?

The ER people reacted mostly okay to the gender stuff -- I had to remind someone that just came in that no, I prefer not to be called a gentleman, and I prefer not to be called the name on my ID, and I take female pronouns in preference to male ones. Nobody seemed to act like they'd never seen a creature like me before, or anything, and they focused on what was hurting me, which was good.

It helped to have melithiel around, modeling correct pronoun use.

The receptionist who took her information, after finding that she was male in the computer system, repeatedly used "he," was repeatedly corrected by me, and repeatedly apologized. Seriously, it happened like five times. She was kind of an old lady, and she seemed genuinely apologetic about messing up, but it was kind of silly.

I'm not really sure how not to talk around one or the other of you, but having someone else doing the correcting sounds like it would be so much less stressful.

Wow, that sounds terrible. I am so happy the ER was able to help. Yay useful ER people.

I hope you continue to improve, and quickly.
