Finished mum's birthday card!

Feb 01, 2013 17:30

Despite my doubts, I have successfully finished mum's birthday card - with a few days to spare (just as well, as I seem to be getting a migraine!). Next task will be a Valentine card and I haven't even chosen a design yet =S

Here's the stitched piece for mum's card....

Adorable,

Hope the migraine devil passes you by.
I hope you have a med that helps you. We finally hit on one a few years ago that sometimes helps, now it is the severe headaches that torture me with no relief.

Personally, i would also prescribe cuddling time (non-human, shoot non-living life forms) qualify as cuddle mates.

Thank you, I'm relieved to get it finished, it's quite a fiddly bit of stitching.

Not sure if the migraine will happen or not. I get them every couple of weeks no matter what I do. I take omega three capsules every day which make the migraines less severe, but I haven't found anything that will cure them. I have an anti migraine pill that sometimes works if I take it soon enough, so I've had one of those. We'll see. Either it will work or I'll have three days of potentially very bad head and eye pain. Maybe it will be a mild one.

OMG! this is awesome! I love owls and they represent wisdom and they are the animal who accompanies Clio, the muse of History!!!!!!
It is so well done, not baddly_knitted at all ;)
I am sure she will enjoy it a lot!
Sending my good and warm wishes from a scorching Buenos Aires.

Thank you. Mum loves owls (so do I), so when I saw the design in my new magazine I knew it was perfect for her. It was very intricate though, I stitched it on 18 hole per inch fabric with one strand of thread and I could only stitch in daylight because I couldn't see what I was doing by artificial light, so it took me four days.

I wish it was warmer here, but we have snow forecast again for the weekend =(

If you don't mind, i can send you some extra heat, it is the fifth we are under an orange heat alert with temperatures around 37°C to 40°C ...... too hot as our Janto!!! ;)

I do some cross stitch but after my eye accident last year I do it rarely now, on very exceptional occasions.

Oh, I'd welcome some warmth! Maybe it would keep the snow at bay, a little bundle of heat wrapped around my town to protect it from winter...

It's sad that you can't cross stitch much these days, it's such a relaxing hobby.

That's fantastic! What a lot of work and it's lovely.

And I hope the migraine goes away! *hugs*

Thank you.

Yes, it was a lot of work. The stitching took four days, then putting it all together into a card too another couple of hours today. Energy saving bulbs don't give enough light so I could only stitch when the daylight was good enough.

Wow! That's just gorgeous! Hopefully the headache will pass without becoming a full-blown migraine.

Thank you, I'm really pleased with the result, I wasn't at all sure I'd get it done in time.

I hope so too, but migraines are just something I have to live with it seems.

Thank you. I wasn't sure if I'd get it done in time, but I have. I was going to do a smaller, simpler design because of the lack of time, but my new magazine arrived and I saw this one... Mum loves owls and I have an owl brooch as part of her present, so i had to stitch this one.

I'm sure she'll really, really love it. :D I have a bit of a soft spot for owls myself, so I definitely appreciate your choice. :D

(And I hope the migraine didn't happen!)

I dodged the bullet this time, thank goodness. Of course, now I'm exhausted from staying up until 4am to watch the superbowl, lol!

Mum's birthday is tomorrow, so I'll find out then if she likes it. I'm sure she will, she collects owls.
