Want to stop your posts being taken by that website?

I think you are on to something! I noticed in going through my own journal during this whole debacle that I've always tagged my fanfic as "fic", not "fanfic" or "fanfiction". And none of my stuff was gacked. Those particular tags do seem to be the common denominator in what's getting taken.

It will be interesting to see if your experiment works. I'm betting it does! :)

I'm hoping so, even if it just proves a point. I'm still trying to get whoever it is to take down all 97 of my posts.

They call it a fanfiction journal, so anything tagged that way is grabbed, regardless of whether or not it IS fanfic. I don't think the owner of the site gives a damn or even bothers to check what they're ripping from other sites.

Seems like everything is fair game for stealing, but I never thought it would go this far! Is there no other way to block them besides changing tags because this is ridiculous. Now I understand why so many people have been 'locking' their journals and I can't blame them but it really cuts off some very good writers out there to be discovered...

As this person's site isn't actually on livejournal, it seems changing tags is the best way to prevent posts being taken short of friendslocking either the entire journal or all non-fic posts. You can also go to the site and click the complain button, then tell them you don't want any of your posts copied. What this person is doing is, in many cases, illegal and now people know about it, they're demanding their posts be removed. One wonderful person is going through everything that's been taken and posted there, informing people and the effect has been dramatic. Over 70 people have so far demanded that their posts be removed. If it keeps up, the journal will soon be practically empty and they'll no longer be able to profit from it.

At last count, I think it was over 150, yet they are still taking posts from people's journals. And now, they say if you don't want posts re-posted, we should add the tag donotrepost to our entries! It's not up to us to label our entries to stop this person, it's up to this person to request permission before re-posting, and to accept our decision. I wish there were a way to block this person's website from accessing LJ while still allowing people on LJ to check the entries on the website so they can still demand to have things taken down.

Found this post on my journal from another person who was hit by these individuals: Ramblin_Rosie seems to have found some info on this (and I did ask her if I could repost this)

Ran a WHOIS search, and while the domain owner seems to be trying to cover his/her tracks, I did locate some useful information. abuse@reg.ru is the abuse reporting address for the company that registered the domain, and to file an abuse report with the company that's hiding his/her contact info, go to http://www.privacyprotect.org/#report_abuse.

Thanks for adding that. I got it from another source but forgot to add it to the post because of the RL chaos. =)

This is why I haven't posted any pictures of the jewelry pieces I did. I saw this happen on Facebook with a jewelry group I belong to and had a tatted piece I did stolen before I could finish it.

I loathe thieves and the format or material doesn't matter; it's disgusting.

I agree. It's one thing if you're openly sharing ideas with a group of like-minded people, but when an outsider just starts helping themselves to posts from people's personal journals and posting them elsewhere, that's disgusting. As is stealing someone else's ideas.
